Bannerstead

Historical 3D real-time strategy: build settlements, develop resources and command armies on land and at sea.

Privacy

As of: 29.10.2026. This privacy statement applies to the development version of Bannerstead described here, ahead of the planned App Store submission. It describes the features already present and the intended Apple download process, rather than an app that has already been released.

Data collection

Bannerstead does not require its own user account and, in the reviewed project version, contains no advertising, ad tracking or third-party analytics SDKs. Game saves and settings are not automatically transmitted to cgNetsphere and are not sold.

Data storage

World state, map and game selections, resources, units, buildings, orders and progress are stored in local game save files. These may include save names you choose, the time of saving and platform information. Manual and automatic slots have local previous or recovery copies. Language, audio, controls, accessibility and your offline preference are stored locally.

Data sharing

cgNetsphere does not operate a game save or analytics server for Bannerstead. Data is transferred only for features you use: between control and game devices you have explicitly connected, through Apple’s content service when downloading culture packs, or when you send us a support message yourself. These processes are described separately below.

Permissions

In the reviewed version, Bannerstead does not use the camera, microphone, contacts, photo library or device location. For the optional Apple TV control panel, the app uses Apple’s device discovery and connection authorisation. System prompts relating to device connections or the network are handled by Apple; without a connection, no control commands are sent to another device.

Optional control panel for Apple TV

You initiate the connection yourself and confirm it on your iPhone or iPad. The connected devices exchange session identifiers, control commands, acknowledgements and a limited tactical game state, such as selections, resources, positions in the control view and pause status. This is not a video stream, a public game server or online multiplayer. Disconnecting ends the connection and pauses the game on the TV. This control data is not sent to cgNetsphere.

Culture packs from Apple and offline use

The planned store version downloads required building, character and ship models as culture packs through Apple’s hosted content service. Apple processes the technical data needed to provide and transfer the content under its own privacy terms. Bannerstead does not upload game saves or support files through this service. The app stores pack status, checksums and your offline preference locally. Fully downloaded and verified packs can be used to play without another server request. Missing, damaged or updated packs may require a new download. Delivery in a TestFlight or App Store installation still requires final verification before release.

Game saves: currently no iCloud synchronisation

The reviewed development version saves games locally on each device. Live iCloud or CloudKit synchronisation has not been set up; existing simulated cloud tests do not synchronise your data. Connecting the Apple TV control panel does not introduce game save synchronisation across devices either.

Retention and local copies

In the current development version, files removed when clearing a save slot remain locally recoverable; earlier copies may also be retained. Clearing a slot therefore does not constitute complete, permanent deletion. Complete removal also requires deleting the app data on the device concerned; simply removing the application does not necessarily delete that data, particularly on Mac. Device backups you create must be managed separately. Culture packs can be removed when offline protection is disabled and no game using them is running, without deleting game saves.

Support, test versions and diagnostics

If you voluntarily write to info@cgnetsphere.org, cgNetsphere and the email providers involved receive your sender address, message and any files you attach. We use them to handle your enquiry and retain them only as long as necessary for that purpose or to meet applicable retention requirements. Bannerstead does not send its own automatic analytics reports to cgNetsphere. For a future TestFlight version and Apple diagnostics you authorise, Apple may provide test, crash and usage data in accordance with the relevant Apple settings and privacy policies.

Controller and contact

Michael Caklec, cgNetsphere, is responsible for the processing by cgNetsphere described in this statement. You can send questions and requests for access or deletion to info@cgnetsphere.org. We cannot access game saves stored exclusively on your devices; you must manage them on those devices. Apple’s own services are also subject to Apple’s privacy policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/de-ww/. If features or data flows change before release, this statement will be updated accordingly.
